Thanks for your comment. I think you deserve a reply. But first, can I ask you a question or two?

What makes you think that keeping God out of politics means someone or a nation is godless?

I am not saying that God cannot be in the lives of politicians. That is why you may and do vote for one or another. But do you think every vote a politician cast should be cast as directed by God?

Did we get into Iraq because someone knew God's will?

Communication with God is personal. God can tell me what to do in my personal life, but do you think I should trust you to tell me what God wants me to do? I see no reason to trust any politician to that degree. It is one thing to hear God incorrectly when you are talking about your own life, but when you are talking about a country, a nation, it is a disaster. That is exactly what Jefferson was warning against.

I know that neither of us want to get into an argument, but you and I may be the only two people willing to discuss this in writing and in public, so I look forward to a few more exchanges.

Thanks.

Hmmm... this kind of view explains (perhaps) why things didn't work out the way I had hoped.

I can't imagine separating God from politics any more than I can imagine putting Him in a box and saying He can only be a part of my life for church, but not politics, or law, or a career, or (fill in the blank).

When a nation fails to involve God (You shall have no other God's before me - 1st commandment) then they end up a dustbowl.

I can respect your views on not wanting God in politics, but I disagree. What scares me is having someone in office who could care less what God's will is. That's why our nation is in the sorry state it's in. Everyone wants to remove God from the public square, from our schools, from politics, from work. So, just where should He be? In church only and no place else?

My site must be despised then, because I rely on God to help me get through my cases, and without Him, I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have. He sends people my way through answered prayer, and I know of someone He sent my way at a crucial time. I prayed for that person to show up, and he did. In the nick of time.

Can you imagine a government without God? I can. I can see it happening in other nations and I fear that coming to this nation.
